Fatima Gruber, wife of Freedonia DC Mayor Mohamed Gruber, drew attention last night after arriving at the Le Jardin Blanc charity dinner in a silver 1960s Porsche 356B 1600 Roadster Drauz.
Dressed in black, with a patterned headscarf, dark sunglasses, gloves, and one hand partly shielding her face, Mrs. Gruber appeared determined to avoid the cameras waiting outside the exclusive restaurant.
Witnesses said she stepped from the driver’s side of the vintage Porsche shortly before the evening reception began, carrying a black handbag and moving quickly toward the entrance while security and restaurant staff looked on.
The car, already familiar from previous high-society sightings, has become a subject of fascination in Freedonia DC’s political circles. Collectors say a well-kept Porsche 356B Roadster can command a substantial price, adding to public curiosity about the Gruber family’s increasingly polished social profile.
Guests at the charity dinner described the arrival as “elegant but guarded.”
“She looked immaculate,” one attendee said. “But the way she covered her face made everyone wonder why she did not want to be photographed.”
The Mayor’s Office declined to comment on Mrs. Gruber’s attendance, saying only that she was present in a private capacity and that the dinner was not an official city event.
Still, in a capital already alive with questions about influence, wealth, and access, the image of the mayor’s wife arriving in a rare classic Porsche is unlikely to pass unnoticed.
