The pressure is on?

Freedonia DC’s Director of Urban Planning, Klaudijo Stroligo, has been drawn into the City Park controversy after an open microphone reportedly captured him complaining about “all the drama” surrounding the zoning decision expected before City Council on 10 July.
The remarks were picked up before a municipal planning briefing, when microphones in the council media room appeared to go live early.
In the recording, a voice identified by City Hall sources as Stroligo refers to “the zoning decision for the park” and says the file was “received from the ministry on 8 July.”
The same voice then adds: “And now we have all the drama around it. There is pressure from every side.”
The comments have raised fresh questions about the Ministry of Housing’s role in the City Park process, which officials had previously described as a local planning matter.
Opposition councillors say the remarks suggest the decision may have been shaped at national level before reaching the city council.
“We were told this was a city-led process,” said opposition councillor Eva Maric. “Now we hear the file came from the ministry and that there is pressure. Pressure from whom?”
The planning office said the remarks were being taken out of context and insisted all procedures remain lawful and subject to council review.
The Ministry of Housing declined to confirm whether it sent City Park documents to the city on 8 July.
Civil society groups are now calling for the 10 July zoning item to be postponed until all communications between the ministry, the Mayor’s Office, and planning officials are released.
For Mayor Mohamed Gruber’s FFP majority, the open mic incident adds another layer of pressure before what is becoming the most closely watched council meeting of the year.
